History

Ken started his forestry career as a summer intern in the 1970’s brushing and painting boundary lines and girdling trees.  After graduation from Penn State in 1982, Ken worked as a Research Technologist for the Penn State Department of Land and Water Resources, then as an Assistant Manager for Baillie Lumber Company before joining Keith Horn, Inc in 1983.

Keith Horn was Ken’s primary mentor.  Keith Horn started his career as a field forester for Hammermill Paper Company and was then promoted to forest supervisor.  Keith’s passion for field forestry led him to consulting forestry with more time spent in the field where Keith believed a forester best exercised his profession.

The many years that Keith and Ken worked together enhanced their understanding of the forest ecosystem and the effect of various influences on the forest resource.  As client needs changed, services expanded from traditional timber inventory and timber sales to aerial spraying, forest regeneration, forest products marketing, managing subsurface developments, public outreach and forest policy issues.

The desire to continue the growth and success of the business led Ken to acquire the business in 2013.  The name Generations Forestry was carefully chosen to reflect the core belief and understanding that forest management decisions made today have a profound effect on future generations.
