The name Generations Forestry was carefully chosen to reflect the core belief and understanding that forest management decisions made today have a profound effect on future generations.
History – Forestry Runs deep in our Roots
Kenneth C. Kane
Ken started his forestry career as a summer intern for Keith Horn, Inc., in the 1970’s brushing, painting boundary lines and girdling trees. After graduation from Penn State in 1982, Ken worked as a Research Technologist for the Penn State Department of Land and Water Resources, then as an Assistant Manager for Baillie Lumber Company before joining Keith Horn, Inc in 1983. In 2013, Ken purchased Keith Horn, Inc and renamed the company Generations Forestry, Inc. The name Generations Forestry was carefully chosen to reflect the core belief and understanding that forest management decisions made today have a profound effect on future generations. Ken has stepped into the role of Senior Advisor to Kenny and the Generations staff.

A Consulting Forester Best Exercises their profession by being in the field
We believe consulting foresters best exercises their profession by spending time in the field. This field time enhances our understanding of the forest ecosystem and the effect of various influences on the forest resource. As client needs changed, services expanded from traditional timber inventory and timber sales to aerial spraying, forest regeneration, forest products marketing, managing subsurface developments, public outreach, and forest policy issues. Field staff have increased to provide these additional services to our growing client list.
The commitment to clients, the resource, and our employees is the foundation of our success. We support our profession and the resource through leadership roles in professional organizations and our involvement with governmental committees and agencies.
Our desire to continue the growth and success of the business resulted in Ken’s acquisition of the business in 2013 and Kenny’s in 2023.
